To Build A Fire : Sci Fi Edition (College Project)

These drawings are all part of a mid-term project I had last October. The proposal was to create a pack of concept art drawings for a hypothetical film made from the short story "To Build A Fire", by Jack London, under the genres of Contemporary, Historical, Sci-Fi and Fantasy.

With this in mind, I chose to create a Sci-Fi Project about a pilot from the Terran Space Force that crashes his ship onto a remote ice planet. Stuck on his own with only with some hastily put on garments, a few rations, a plasma torch running dangerously low and his intelligent scouting unit as company, he sets out through alien forests and across deceptive plains of thin ice sheets in order to reach the nearest TSF base. Will he prevail against the odds and make it back to the stars? (According to the original story; Nope, but the dog lives).
